Member for Goulburn Pru Goward says she is disappointed about changes to the draft proposed passenger rail timetable and she has sought the assistance of the Transport Minister over the issue.
“I am extremely disappointed to see train services taking longer and arriving later in the draft timetable,” Ms Goward said.
“Due to the nature of the questions posed to me by the Goulburn Post, seeking a response from the Minister’s office was the responsible thing to do in order to have the issues addressed properly.
“Improving transport services to my electorate is a top priority and has been for years.
“I am in constant contact with the Minister for Transport’s office, requesting improvements to services and representing the concerns of my constituents.
“I've personally raised my concerns with the Transport Minister and he has agreed to look into the matter.
“As recently as this week, I contacted the Premier’s office indicating that improvements in transport services is a top priority for the electorate.
“I am excited and proud that the next generation of regional trains will be coming to the Goulburn Electorate, replacing the ageing fleet.
She said the NSW Government has begun the procurement process for a new type of train to replace the decades-old XPT, XPLORER and Endeavour-class sets.
“This is great news for Southern Highlands Line passengers,” she said.
“I have already written to the Minister expressing concerns regarding the draft timetable and I encourage others who feel the same to write to my office so your views can be heard.”
