As such there is a proud tradition at the school, which is reflected in the school’s enthusiastic community of supporters. 

As a major fundraiser for the school, the Goulburn Public Parents and Citizen’s Committee (P&C) are holding a Spring Fair for the first time in some years and it promises something for everyone.

The Spring Fair  will be held on Saturday, September 23 in the grounds of the school from 9am to 2pm. 

Goulburn Public School P&C president Tania Willett said there would be heaps of events at the fair for the whole family to enjoy. 

“There will be plenty of markets stalls with all local stallholders, the regional woodworkers, the weavers and spinners group, cakes, produce, clothing, food, arts and crafts,” Ms Willett said. 

“There will also be live entertainment from bands including The Year Of Gold and M Funk, a barbecue courtesy of the Salvation Army and a coffee van as well as displays by Relay for Life, the RFS, NSW Police and vintage cars.”

A children's’ activities area will be set up that cost $15 per child for all day use. This will have a jumping castle, chalk bombs, bubble balls, nurf shooting, ring toss and even a toilet-roll tossing game. 

Ms Willett said it was one of the school’s major fundraising events, so she hoped the community got behind it. 

“It will be a huge event and if it goes well will try to double the size of it for the 150th celebrations next year,” she said. 

“That said – if any parents or students want to help out on the day they are most welcome.” 

Ms Willett said plans are also underway for the school’s 150^th celebrations in August next year.

“There is a meeting at 4pm on Wednesday, September 20 in the History Room at the school,” Ms Willett said.

“We want the community to have a say in how they want this event run. We want input from for former students and teachers – maybe people have old photos they can share with us?

“A lot of people in the city have a connection to this great old school.” 

A Facbeook page has been established for the 150^th celebrations called ‘150 years at Goulburn Public School.’

Goulburn Public principal Sharyn Cox praised the school’s P&C. 

“The school’s P&C are a small but dedicated group that work for the best of the students at the school,” she said. 

Limited edition 150^th commemorative Goulburn Public School badges will be on sale at the Spring Fair for $10 each.
