“So the gardening calendar is solar based with four main solar milestones, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox, Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
“Traditionally, the Goulburn Community Gardens celebrates these four milestones with an Open Day and barbecue.
This will be happening on Saturday, September 23 from 12 noon.
“Members of the public are invited to come along and see how well the gardens are progressing,” Mr Spilsbury said.
“Ray Shiel will also give an informative talk on the value of keeping chooks in the garden, what chooks to keep and how to set them up.
“Then there will be a talk about companion planting by Ros Thomson – so there is something for everyone.”
There is a gold coin donation for entry. The gardens are located in Goldsmith Street behind the Uniting Church car park, roughly opposite the Lieder Theatre.
