This year in both the NSW and World Championships, Alexander scored a massive 10,000 points. He placed 8th overall in NSW and 6th in German. The school placed second in the state for German.
Anka Allen, Languages Coordinator at Trinity Catholic College said the New Zealand-based online educational provider, who runs language competitions for students, is very appealing, as both aural and visual learners find it motivating.
The program allows students to see and analyse their results. The constant revision ensures students encounter each word many times before they are able to move on. Students at Trinity are sincere in their praise of the program.
Gold Certificates were awarded to Eleanor Stevens, Kaitlyn Mateta, Sophie Hassett, Ignatius Fisher, Andrew Craig, Samuel North, Gabrielle Waters, Haldyn Boyce, Ella Park, Emily Kent, Tess McKenzie, Thomas Waddell and Thomas McEntee.
Alexander admitted it was harder to gain an Elite Certificate in the NSW Competition, as you have only seven days to gain 10,000 points, as opposed to 10 days during the time of the World Championships.
“This means I have to spend most, if not all of my free time competing – to say I was sleep deprived is an understatement,” he said.
In addition, Alexander juggled homework, assessments and of course, Father’s Day.
“I am excited to have achieved the Elite Award, because it recognises the hard work that I put in.”
Over 28,000 competitors participated in NSW this year.
