NSW RFS Southern Highlands Team Manager Superintendent Martin Surrey says the Paddys River fire is still uncontained with crews working to gain control.
Firefighters from Marulan supported local crews to control the fire yesterday.
The fire has burnt through about 30 hectares of land with no reported loss to livestock or damaged properties so far.
Superintendent Surrey congratulated the firefighters who worked overnight to keep the fire where it is.
“They did a great job from stopping it get any further under very trying conditions,” he said.
The cause of the grass fire has not been identified with investigations commencing soon.
“Without the rain it will be a long and arduous fire season, people need to be prepared,” he said.
“Today we require the communities to be vigilant. Watch warnings stay in touch fires near me and the RFS website.
“Until we get some rain it will be very difficult.”
The fire is located north of Marulan near the Hume Highway.

NSW Rural Fire Service has declared the Southern Ranges, which includes the Goulburn Mulwaree, Palerang, Queanbeyan, Upper Lachlan and Yass Valley, at a ‘very high’ fire danger rating today.
The Illawara and Shoalhaven is one of eight areas in the state with a ‘severe’ fire danger rating and a total fire ban.
The RFS responded to a total of 90 fires yesterday, including the Paddys River Fire which closed the Hume Highway.
About 32 firefighters and nine fire trucks responded to the grass fire.
According to Fires Near Me, firefighters will continue to work on the area this morning and conduct back burning operations.
Drivers are advised to be cautious due to smoke or the firefighters working. Residents in the Hanging Rock and Penrose area are also advised to monitor conditions and be ready to act if necessary.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) have forecasted temperatures to reach a maximum of 22 degrees in Goulburn with northwesterly winds and a 20 per cent chance of rain.
