There is currently a contraflow of 60km/h for southbound lanes while northbound lanes remain closed.
Northbound lanes and the Wingecarribee Bridge may be closed for 24 to 36 hours, pending a traffic management assessment of the stability of the bridge following the fire.
10.55AM: A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said they expected the northbound lane would be closed for about four hours.
They said eight crews and more than 30 fire fighters from Berrima (2 crews), Moss Vale (1 crew), Bowral (2 crews including one Hazmat crew), St Andrews, Macarthur (1 crew), Chester Hill (2 Hazmat crews) were at the scene.
10.45AM: Northbound remains closed, however, southbound lanes are now open.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said the fire on the bridge has been contained.
They said the primary fire in the bushland is still smouldering but is contained.
Northbound lanes from Mereworth Road (Medway River). Motorists advised to use Old Hume Highway via Berrima and Mittagong. Diversions are suitable for all traffic.
10.19AM: Emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Berrima, at Wingecarribee River Bridge shortly after 9am where they found a prime mover and trailer, carrying frozen goods, well alight.
The driver and sole occupant, aged in his 60s, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries and taken to Bowral District Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The fire has been extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, however, the truck has been completely destroyed.
Traffic diversions are currently in place.

9.35AM: RFS spokesperson said that the crash occurred that about 8.30am and multiple resources are in attendance including Fire and Rescue crews and RFS crews.
He said one vehicle caught on fire which has resulted in a area of bushland catching on fire.
9.20AM: The Hume Highway at Wingecarribee Bridge is closed in both directions.
Southbound motorists are advised to exit the Hume Highway at Aylmerton through Mittagong on to Bowral Road, Moss Vale Road and Illawarra Highway to rejoin the Hume Highway at Sutton Forest.
Northbound motorists are advised to use the Old Hume Highway via Berrima.
These diversion are suitable for all traffic.
9.15AM: Police from the Hume LAC have advised that all northbound traffic is being diverted through Moss Vale Road.
Motorists are urged to allow more time for their trip and avoid the area.
9.00AM: The Hume Highway at Berrima is closed in both directions due to a truck crash and fire.
The NSW Transport Management Centre reported the crash about 8:40am, Wednesday morning.
Traffic is being diverted down the Old Hume Highway.
