Riversdale Historic Homestead events include Devonshire tea on November 19

Riversdale is packed to the rafters in the lead-up to the season of celebration.

This Sunday, the third-monthly, is the historic home’s traditional Devonshire tea service.

A car boot sale should draw the crowds, as will the sizzle and scent of a barbecue.

Visitors can inspect the gardens, which volunteer Ros Loftus describes as “absolutely gorgeous” this springtime,  for free and at their leisure.

Entry to the homestead is $8, concession $5; children and National Trust members free.

Pop into the National Trust shop for a goody or two to take home.

Until December 20, it’s also time for Riversdale’s annual house dress-up, the Victorian Christmas.

This is in honour of the many children who have lived at the homestead over its long history.

Riversdale Historic Homestead on Twynam Drive is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am to 2pm; and Sundays, 10am to 3pm.
