Southern Tablelands United FC commence trials for players in all age groups. The team combines former rivals Strikers and Stags.
“Coaches have been appointed and all teams are set to start tomorrow,” club director David Albrighton said. “It’s an exciting time for local football, we don’t see it as reinventing the wheel or starting again at all.
“It’s just a continuation and a reuniting of the community heading in one direction for the betterment of football as a whole in all age groups.”
All players and parents are encouraged to head along, meet the coaches and sign up at Cookbundoon Sporting Fields on Tuesday for a 6:30pm start.
Age groups include boys 13s, 15/16s, 18s and all age men (three teams) as well as girls 14s, 16s and all age women.
Southern Tablelands United will aim to meet the full National Premier League (NPL) commitment, garnering the interest of the whole region, its players and supporters.
In order to establish teams, Southern Tablelands United coaches will conduct trials over three weeks every Tuesday and Thursday.
Notably the club will also ensure the women and young girls are provided with the same opportunities as the boys and men, entering as many teams as possible with the intention of developing the women’s game at all levels, and with a clear avenue for elite players to play for W League side Canberra United in the future.
Southern Tablelands United FC has been formed to be all-encompassing, one big football family looking to the future for the entire region from Crookwell, Marulan, Tarago, Braidwood, Taralga, Goulburn and everywhere in between.
Players from the Southern Highlands have also shown interest in joining this exciting new venture and are more than welcome. So, get down to Cookbundoon Tuesday night at 6:30pm and be a part of history!
