The JRPP met to consider the proposal in July this year, moving to defer the application pending preparation of further information. Council was asked to prepare a car parking and access management plan addressing the requirements of the Performing Arts Centre, address heritage impacts of the proposal and make provision for the requirements of disabled space.
Following the deferral in July, the council employed a number of independent specialist consultants to address the concerns of the planning panel. I am feeling quietly confident as we approach this meeting, and am hopeful we will have an approval for this exciting project as we head into 2018.
Meeting results
On Tuesday night we made a number of decisions on important issues:
We approved a tender from Stabilcorp Pty Ltd for the 2017/18 road widening program. The expected works will be undertaken on Oallen Ford Road, Windellama Road, Range Road, Taralga Road, Highland Way and Gurrundah Road.
Council considered a CBD Masterplan which has been prepared to guide further CBD improvements over the next 15-20 years. The document will now be placed on exhibition until 28th February 2018
Council authorised deferral of scheduled Range Road shoulder widening in order to undertake the proposed works on Gurrundah Road. Community concern along with monitoring and investigation by Council’s Operations Department has identified these works on Gurrundah Road as a priority
Council staff will now prepare tender documentation for construction of a new cricket pavilion at Seiffert Oval. If current grant funding applications are unsuccessful, an allocation of $200,000 will be included in the 2018/19 Capital Works Program to ensure this project goes ahead.
Councillors accepted an offer from Hunter H20 Holdings for Water and Sewer network modelling. This modelling is critical as Goulburn and Marulan continue to grow, and will allow Council to integrate the distribution of the complete system from a flow, pressure and growth perspective
