The once pristine turf cricket pitch fell into disrepair some years ago and an attempt recently including replacing the black clay pitch area. However the surface was not sufficiently compacted using a light path or pitch type roller and the result was unsuccessful.
In recent weeks serious efforts have been made to bring the surface back into use. This time a heavy roller was brought in to assist with the compaction and it is hoped that this along with the other work done by John Edwards and Rob Jolliffe has resulted in a quality playing surface. The test will be this Saturday when two under 12s games will be played.
All junior cricketers are invited to attend a barbecue tomorrow at Prell oval at 12 noon. The first match on Prell Oval will commence at 8.30am between St Joseph’s and Wollondilly Green. The second under 12s game will commence following the barbecue at 1pm and be between Wollondilly Yellow and Wollondilly Gold. Please note the changes to junior matches this weekend.
A big thanks John Edwards and Rob Jolliffe for all your hard work in getting the wicket and facilities ready. Its great to see matches being played at Prell again.
Please note the following changes for junior cricket this weekend.
The under 16s match between Crookwell and Wollondilly is now a one day match commencing at 8.15am at The Grange. If however the pitch is too wet it will be played at Todkill 1.
