Although this bid has been pushed back this did not stop the many conversations about the idea of a second jail on Mountain Ash Road.
One person was overheard telling a friend “We have Ivan, we might as well have the rest”. Another shook her head, sympathising with residents near the proposed location. Sheesh, is everything online these days?
Christmas is coming.
We can see this in the shine of the tinsel and the hurried steps of children ready for their presents to be delivered. And if you look closer, you can also see it in distressed retail staff and ambivalent families who are avoiding the next dramatic outburst over Christmas lunch.
Religious or not it is a time for communion, a time to get together with loved and not-so loved ones, and waste paper collectively in good spirit.
Some could argue the Christmas lights around town is just as special as the day itself, but this year, we at the Post noticed something different. There are now Facebook pages dedicated to houses bearing Christmas lights, and upon further digging, similar pages for Halloween.
Let’s put convenience aside, which appears to be the furiously digested, rarely contested trend of the day, and argue for good ol’ fashion discovery.
Why does everything have to be planned, accredited and put online? You will find a house with amazing lights, and some with ordinary lights, but that’s a part of the spontaneity. We are always seeking for the perfect moment and are using every online medium to get us there. But we argue, in this process, what is truly lost, our time or our sense of adventure?
