The program will run from Monday, December 4 to Friday, December 22, weather permitting.
Resurfacing or resealing roads is part of the council’s ongoing asset preservation program to improve and restore the road pavement.
First, the council and contractors carry out maintenance, such as kerb and gutter repairs, asphalt patching, crack sealing and removal of weeds from gutters.
Each year a number of local roads require resealing to extend their useful lifespan by about 15 years.
This is done while roads are in good condition with some deterioration.
Resealing generally involves spraying hot bitumen over the existing surface, quickly tipping a layer of stone on top and rolling the stone into the bitumen.
The council knows this can be temporarily inconvenient for residents, but it is a preservation practice to prolong road life as one of its most expensive and important assets.
Traffic management measures will be in place during this time. This will include some detours around work sites.
Access to private property will be maintained at all times.
Streets will be restricted for 2-4 hours at a time. Residents will also be notified the day prior to resealing works, so refrain from parking vehicles on the road during this time.
While measures will be taken to minimise any inconvenience, your cooperation will be appreciated during these works.
