The second grade competition so far has been very interesting , with the Railway Bowlo Rats leading on the ladder and Soldiers Warriors in the second spot. But looking at the runs for and against this is a very interesting mix of strong batting and fielding/bowling sides.
The Rats have scored 1312 runs in the nine games they have played, have taken 62 wickets and had 1037 runs scored against them. The Warriors have amassed the highest run count with 1985, while claiming 82 wickets, but they had 1270 runs scored against them. This is both the highest both runs for and runs against in the competition, also the highest number of wickets taken. But their 10 games played is also the highest in the competition.
Workers Super Stags in third position also have the second lowest number of runs scored in the competition at 850 and the fourth highest number of runs against them with 1103.
They had also taken the second highest wicket count. Hibo Colts in fourth position have scored 1052 runs in eight games while Super Stags had played nine games.
The Colts however had only taken 37 wickets and had 1236 runs scored against them and had only won two games. Compared to the Workers Super Stags seven wins.
While the win and loss differences are great there have been many good games of cricket right across the the competition including performances from Hibo Green and Hibo Gold, who have both taken more wickets than Hibo Colts and lost less than Soldiers Warriors.
This Saturday Warriors play Hibo Gold at on the Trinity turf near Addison St.
Hibo Colts play Railway Bowlo Rats were to have played on Carr Confoy 2, but they have received a move to the Prell Oval turf.
Hibo Green play Warriors Super Stags on Carr Confoy 3.
The first game of 2018 is between Hibo Green and Super Stags, on January 6. This is a deferred game from round six. The first full round for 2018 will be held on January 13.
