The council, in partnership with the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has teamed up with Goulburn’s authorised RMS child restraint fitter, Rapid Auto Repair to provide the service.
People can access it by collecting a $30 voucher from customer service at the Civic Centre at Bourke Street. Car seats, harnesses and booster seats are all covered by the voucher.
Council’s Road Safety Officer Tracey Norberg encouraged anyone carrying younger children in a vehicle to book in for an inspection.
“Many families will be travelling great distances over the holidays and we want to ensure that our children are as safe as possible,” she said.
“When used correctly, child safety car seats significantly reduce fatal injuries for infants and toddlers. We service our cars, trailers and caravans before going on holidays, why not get your child restraints checked before heading off?”
The suggested minimum height to use an adult lap sash seat belt is 145cm or taller. Children aged from seven but under 16 who are too small to be restrained by a seatbelt properly adjusted and fastened are strongly recommended to use an approved booster seat.
Once people have collected their vouchers they need to call Rapid Auto Repairs in Goldsmith Street on 4822 3222 to book in an appointment time.
