Goulburn students take on Hollywood

It has been a busy few days for students of both Goulburn and Mulwaree high schools as they embark on their ‘Say G’day’ study tour in the US.

Goulburn High teacher Ross Mackay says his students have toured Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm (a 160-acre amusement park) and Hollywood, and sat courtside at a LA Lakers basketball game.

Some serious attempts were made by the big kids to wear out the Disneyland rides, as teachers attempted to finish a turkey leg without success.

They also dropped into the home of Snoopy, the Charles M Schultz Museum, followed by a ‘pirate’ dinner and show.

On Friday, they strolled the Hollywood Walk of Fame to see the celebrities’ stars before seeing them again in waxy likeness at Madame Tussauds. At the Santa Monica pier, some of the intrepid crew jumped aboard the ferris wheel.

“The day was finished with a trip to watch the LA Lakers at home,” Mr Mackay said. “It was an opportunity to absorb all the excitement of game day.”

The students will visit Universal Studios, home of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, before heading to San Diego to meet their host families.

Mulwaree High students have had a similar program, including posing at Madame Tussauds (below).
