Due to their nature, the Twynam Drive home itself will be closed temporarily from Monday, February 5 until May 1.
However, committee member David Cornford advises that the surrounding property will remain open on scheduled days.
The special ‘Unearthing Riversdale’ historic exhibition will still run in the Tea Room and small parlour from Monday, March 5 until Sunday, June 3 at a reduced charge.
Access to the gardens, the monthly Devonshire Tea days February 18, March 18 and April 15, and the quarterly boot sale on February 18 are unaffected. Visitors are welcome.
The work is being undertaken thanks to a generous bequest and a grant.
Property manager Dawn Giles earlier explained that the $150,000 project would address rising damp in the house, repair walls and ceilings.
“We have 140 years of house here and it does deteriorate,” she said.
Last year, Goulburn MP announced a $47,867 NSW Heritage grant toward the work, which supplemented fundraising undertaken by a very active committee.
“We apologise for any inconvenience to our visitors and supporters but the work being undertaken is imperative to keeping Riversdale alive for future generations,” Mr Cornford said.
