The move, announced by NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller, will see the Hume Police District encompass parts of Young.
The new district will now include: Bigga, Binalong, Boorowa, Bowral, Bundanoon, Caragabal, Collector, Crookwell, Goulburn, Greenethorpe, Grenfell, Gunning, Harden, Jugiong, Koorawatha, Marulan, Moss Vale, Robertson, Tarago, Taralga, Tuena, Yass and Young.
A spokesperson for NSW Police assured the public all current police stations within the Hume Police District will remain “open and operational” amid the backdrop of criticism voiced by the Public Service Association (PSA) last November.
“There has been no reduction in frontline police numbers as a result of the changes, and a flattening of the management structure will increase frontline numbers over time,” the spokesperson said.
The re-engineering roll out will pave a officer-in-charge model, where an officer will be in charge of each and every police station within the district
Improved resources for major incidents and investigations are also scheduled to be delivered.
The changes come as Hume LAC acting superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis returns to Lake Illawarra station to be replaced by Chris Schilt.
More to come.
