Headlining a big weekend in local sport is Goulburn’s 50th anniversary rodeo and the Club is hosting the ABCRA Championship Rodeo on Saturday.

With $1000 in prize money up for grabs in the open events and $600 for each novice evens the rodeo has drawn some 360 entries. Goulburn’s Rodeo grounds are at the Goulburn Recreation Area on Braidwood Road with the gates to the southern end of the pavilions. Competition on Saturday starts at 9am and runs through to late with most of the open events in the afternoon and evening. There will be some open events conducted early so competitors can get to another rodeo.
If you enjoy watching barrel racing the Southern Tableland Tin Spinners hold their first points event for 2018 at the Goulburn Campdraft grounds on Sunday. Head out to Goulburn airport and turn down the airport road. then follow the signs on your left that will direct you into the grounds. This is a free event for spectators.
At Wakefield Park Round one of the local circuit’s series gets underway The Wakefield 300 endurance race is a highlight of this meeting. Entry to the circuit is free this weekend. Also on the program are the East Coast Minis, formula Vs and HQ sedans.
Junior cricket on Saturday morning promises to be interesting with the under 14s playing the second day of their two day matches. Trinity Gold Women v Trinity Blue play on the Trinity 2 field off Addison St. This field offers plenty of shade for spectators. Wollondilly is playing their two day match against Crookwell at the Grange in Crookwell. Wollondilly U16s plays Crookwell U16s in a one day match on Trinity’s Wexted Oval on Saturday morning.
In senior cricket on Saturday afternoon Hibo Gold plays Hibo Green on Seiffert Oval, and in the other first grade fixture Workers Stags travel to Tuena to play Crookwell Golf Club. Second grade Hibo Colts play Railway Bowlo on Trinity 2, Workers Super Stags play Hibo Green 2 on Carr Confoy 2 and Hibo Gold play Soldiers Warriors on Carr Confoy 3.
Tablelands United Football Club (soccer) under 13s, 16s and a composite 14/15’s to travel Bowral on Saturday for their first trial matches of season 2018 against Highlands FC. The u13s kick things off at 9am, 16s at 10.15am and 14/15’s at 11:30am. Matches are at David Woods Playing Fields, 100 Boardman Road, East Bowral.
