Also last month, crews went to Bannaby, putting in very long hours and a huge effort to assist all the brigades with the large fire in that area. It was a good opportunity to enhance our skills in pumping, communication, driving, firefighting, organisation.
Village funding
Thirty-two interested residents attended a public meeting held on Saturday, February 10 at the Towrang Hall to discuss Goulburn Mulwaree Council's Village Discretionary Funding for our area and to put forward ideas for its use. Some ideas for consideration are: a public toilet, history repository, outdoor paved area at the rear of the hall for use at functions, history signboards at significant locations around the area. These will now be considered and a decision will be announced within the next month.
Goulburn Show
The Goulburn Show is on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4 at the Goulburn Showground. Gates open at 9am on both days. Lots to see: pavilion exhibitions (produce, arts and crafts, photography, flowers, jams/jellies, cakes/slices, etc), woodchop, young farmers challenge, showgirl competition, equestrian and animals of all description, trade displays, rides, showbags.
It's not too late to put an entry into the pavilion competitions. Entries close at 6pm on Monday, February 26 except produce and flowers, which close on Wednesday, February 28. For more information go to the Goulburn Show website at www.goulburnshow.com.au

Towrang 'Tavern'
Come along to the monthly Towrang Tavern which will be held on Friday, February 23 from 6.30pm at the Towrang Hall, BYO drinks/meal/nibbles, bring the kids and visitors. A great opportunity to catch up with old friends and have a chat, and for new residents to come along and meet the locals. Occasionally there will be a theme night eg Australia Day, New Years Eve, perhaps a dinner prepared by Tony Redman, but you will be advised, either through this column, through the website (www.towrang.org) or by email (if you are on the email list). See above for contact information.
A good night was had by those who attended the Australia Day Tavern night at the end of January. Thank you to Tony for the delicious meal and all who came along to enjoy it.
