On Sunday afternoon, a blue Holden Commodore sedan was travelling north on the highway near Wollogorang Road when it veered out of its lane and hit the end of the safety railing.
The car continued off the road into long grass, coming to a stop about five metres off the roadway.
The accident occurred on the Federal Highway about 200 metres south of Wollogorang Road.
The car was extensively damaged.
The Police Rescue Squad from Goulburn cut a roof section off the vehicle to access the driver.
Parkesbourne Rural Fire Service provided fire suppression support as the car was in long dry grass.
The highway was temporarily closed northbound to allow a rescue helicopter to land close to the accident site.
Southbound traffic was unaffected by the accident.
The northbound lane has since reopened, with traffic moving slowly through a delay bottleneck.
