It is a voluntary association that receives no ongoing government funding and relies on the support of the Goulburn community.

As such, long-time helper with Riding for the Disabled, Paul Mewburn decided to assist them by sponsoring two horses. 

Mr Mewburn, who works at Raine and Horne Real Estate, said he had been involved with them for many years. 

“I have been involved with Riding for the Disabled since I was at high school,” Mr Mewburn said. 

Mr Mewburn is sponsoring two ponies at the facility – Merllin and Gypsy.  

“Kerry Guymer is a good friend of mine and I told her I’d like to sponsor some horses to help them out,” Mr Mewburn said. 

“sponsoring a horse It basically involves assisting with paying for its food and upkeep.” 

RDA President Kerry Guymer said such donations and support were always welcome. 

“We have eight ponies and 24 children come out and ride them in three sessions,” Mrs Guymer said. 

“They come out once a fortnight and we find that the horses have a therapeutic affect on the kids.

“This is both physical and emotional, because sometimes special bonds develop between the children and the horses.” 

RDA has an undercover riding facility, based out on the Rosemount Rd, about 20 minutes from town.
