A four-month jail sentence imposed by Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday brought relief.
"To see him being led away in the dock like the evil predator he is, was great," Mr Nagle told reporters.
A repeat offender, Farrell was finally imprisoned for his indecent assault of two 10-year-old boys in regional Victoria during the 1970s.
Farrell, 22 at the time, used his position as a teacher at Ballarat's St Alipius Primary School to assault the pupils in 1974.
Magistrate Belinda Wallington said Farrell, now 66, assaulted one of the boys on three occasions, fondling the child inside his trousers.
He fondled the other boy's genitals after requesting the child change into his sports gear.
"Because of your position as a Christian Brother, when that child told an adult, he was not believed," Ms Wallington said.
Farrell has already received two suspended jail sentences in 1997 and 2013 for similar offences against three other victims.
Mr Nagle, who was nine when Farrell molested him, said he expected more people to come forward with allegations against the former brother, who is now married.
His complaints against Farrell went before court in 1997 and he described his time at the school as "absolutely scary days" with Farrell "running amok".
"I've been trying to see this guy go to jail for 45 years. It's definitely a milestone," Mr Nagle said.
"We were little kids, nine and 10 years of age, and they were very serious sex offences."
Farrell was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment, 14 months of which were suspended.
