Fresh faced, the third year Rural Clinical School (RCS) student soon discovered Goulburn was a place he would return.
"Initially when I moved here I didn't really know what I was going to make of it or what was going to happen,” Dr Misev said.
Appointed to the Argyle Medical Centre it was an easy fit.
Soon he was engrossed in the community, coaching soccer and regularly bumping into patients from the practice and Goulburn Base Hospital.
“I found it quite nice. I was always welcomed, people asked ‘how long are you going to be here?’ and ‘when are you going to come back?’” he said.
“I definitely knew I wanted to come back .”
In 2016 Dr Misev chose Goulburn as part of his three month rotation, a year later he approached Dr Ivan Wilden-Constantin from the Argyle Medical Centre for a job.
“[He was] very dedicated and I could see potential from his first week,” Dr Wilden-Constantin said.
Dr Misev, who begun in early February, is the first student from the ANU RCS who has completed his studies to return to Goulburn.
“[He’s] going amazingly well, he’s conscientious, knows his stuff and knows his limitations.”
Dr Wilden-Constantin credited the work of the RCS, in particular, that of Doctor and RCS Academic Coordinator and Senior Lecturer Isabella Hawke.
“He is molded well, the credit goes to Dr Isabella Hawke and the RCS. This is the end product of the hard work she has achieved over the past 15 years,” he said.
“I’ve just put the icing on him, the core was developed at the clinical school.”
Dr Wilden-Constantin commended the structure and versatility of the RCS, highlighting the importance or rural doctors.
“You have to cope with almost everything,” he said.
“This guy is a special guy and he’s got what it takes, we’ll give him the proper guidance and I think in a few years this guy will be at the top of tree in a rural setting.”
Dr Misev will continue his training as a general practitioner under supervision with the intention of keeping Goulburn in the forefront.
