The day, at the Goulburn Waterworks, brought together some 30 members of the little known group.
Member Sarah McNaught said the group had been going in Goulburn for about nine years and fell under the banner of a larger organisation, The Society for Creative Anachronisms, which had been operating in Australia for 30 years.
“A couple started it in their backyard and it has grown from there,” she said.
Australia and New Zealand is known as the Kingdom of Loc Arc and has its own kings, queens, barons and baronesses.
While Goulburn’s group is only small, larger ones like those in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne are known as Baronrys.
Local members gather for feasts of food typical of the times and demonstrations of archery, fencing and for training. An Easter Friday feast is being planned at ‘Barking Beast Tavern,’ a fictional meeting point on a district property.
Sunday’s event included rapier demonstrations, cooking, dance performances and medieval arts and crafts.
