Marking its 60th year across the state, Goulburn Mulwaree Council has organised a host of activities with the help of U3A, Goulburn Regional Art Gallery and Goulburn Workers Club, for a festival attendees will enjoy.
Activities include a ‘Yesterday’s Heroes’ musical tribute, yoga, a gallery talk, a safety workshop, technology training sessions and a photography competition.
Goulburn Mulwaree business, customer and community services manager Craig Johnson said the reception for the festival was always enthusiastic.
“It’s for both seniors and the broader community, [the festival] is a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on members of our community that don’t always get the spotlight,” Mr Johnson said.
“They have a wealth of information and experience, it’s wonderful to get an opportunity to celebrate them on a community level.”
The inclusion of yoga classes and a photography competition is a way for the broader community to get involved, Mr Johnson said, in an effort to facilitate involvement with the festival via family and friends.
The photography competition will be divided into two categories, the best photo of a senior, and the best photo taken by a senior.
The photos will be judged and displayed in the council building.
“We’re hoping grand kids, children or interested neighbours might want to get involved in the competition,” he said.
Entries for the Senior of the Year and the Community Group of the Year have also opened and will be announced during the festival.
- The festival will run from Tuesday, April 10 to Thursday, April 12.
