Adriana spoke about coming to Australia from Italy at the age of 10, and later meeting her husband, Tony, when she was working for his brother in Corrimal. She came to live in Goulburn after her marriage.
Tony at that time had a shop at City View that included a post office and bank agencies. Adriana spent many hours learning to master the book work involved with these, but fortunately was already proficient in financial management.
She credits her amazing work ethic to her father, and this has given her the ability to have worked so hard for many years. Adriana quite happily reared her family, and now grandchildren, while working in the shop. She also was a great support to Tony in all his civic duties.
Adriana and Tony’s shop is now up for sale, and they have purchased the old Sirdar factory at Bradfordville, that they are in the process of renovating. Adriana doesn’t believe in retirement, but plans to work until she drops, although she does intend to reduce her hours. The couple is also selling their home and moving into town.
Kathy thanked Adriana for sharing her story with VIEW members, and for the wonderful contribution she has made to the city of Goulburn, both in her own right and a loyal supporter of her husband. The meeting continued with president Lorraine congratulating Shirley Read on her 30 years of service to VIEW and all the work she has done over that time to support the Smith Family.
