The incident occurred just after midday.
One northbound lane is shut, with the other being managed by emergency services.
Drivers are advised to expect significant delays, with queues stretching back five kilometres or more.
Light vehicles only may wish to take an alternative route via Remembrance Drive/Old Hume Highway to Picton, then Prince Street and Menangle Street/Picton Road to return to the Hume Highway beyond the crash site.
Transport for NSW, a heavy vehicle tow truck and emergency services are in attendance.
