More than 150 people, all dressed in bright colours as Ms Bliss had requested, gathered at Christ Church Grammar School chapel this morning to farewell the 57-year-old, who took her life last weekend at the home she shared with husband Alan Bond.

Her siblings Graeme, Peter and Julie told their favourite memories of "the perfect big sister," and spoke of her dedication to the theatre and her love for Mr Bond.

Peter said Ms Bliss's formula for life was simple: love, truth, tolerance, kindness, humour and gratitude for every day.

"Our sister Di loved the theatre, loved putting on a show, and this is her show. Her biggest show, her biggest live show, the biggest tragedy, yes, and she's still producing it. But this time she's the centre of attention," he said.

Sister Julie described her sister as a "shining star", full of grace, compassion and courage.

"As the stage lights dim, the orchestra plays your song and the seats will be empty soon. But your memory will never fade,'' she said.

Ms Bliss's close friend, actress Carmen Duncan, made the congregation laugh with stories of their 25-year friendship, which began at a restaurant in New York.

"We had days when we laughed 'til we cried, and we had days when we cried 'til we laughed, but we always had the best time," she said.

She also spoke of her friend's undying love for Mr Bond, telling him "you were the love of her life, you were her knight in shining armour and she dedicated so much of that life to you. Her loyalty and devotion were without end.''

“It’s hard to describe how anyone can just turn the lights on by their very presence. She was so beautiful, she was so bright, and intelligent and witty.”

She said Ms Bliss had an incredible impact on the theatrical world.

“Every actor or director who had anything to do with Di was totally enamoured with her,” she said.

Ms Duncan said Ms Bliss's light began to fade as she struggled with depression. She said she hated the fact she was hurting Mr Bond and other loved ones, and "just wanted it to stop."

An emotional Mr Bond, dressed in a pink shirt and red tie, followed behind the coffin as it was carried from the church after the hour-long service, which was conducted by the Reverend Canon Frank Sheehan.

Among those in attendance were federal MP Julie Bishop, former lord mayor of Perth Peter Nattrass and car dealership owner John Hughes.

It was revealed this week that Ms Bliss left a note thanking her loved ones for their support and understanding.

In a death notice published this week, Mr Bond paid tribute to his "beautiful wife and best friend."

“Her spirit and love had no bounds. Her love to all her friends and kindness to all she met was an example to all," he wrote.
