Due to the high volume of calls being received by Goulburn Mulwaree Council, mayor Cr Geoff Kettle urged people to contact the appropriate bodies if in need of further information.

“We understand that there are a number of residents in the Goulburn Mulwaree LGA who are now affected by flood damage,” he said.

“If you need to report any flood damage, you need to contact the State Emergency Service on 132 500. The SES are best equipped to deal with flooding and evacuations. Again, please be careful on the roads. There is a lot of debris and damage on our roads. Council staff are currently working to assess the damage, and a number of roads are still closed.

Cr Kettle also urged people not to take unnecessary risks in the current sitution.

“While I understand that many people will be fascinated with the flooding and the amount of water, I must stress that floodwaters are incredibly dangerous,” he said.

“Don’t enter the floodwaters, and if you are going to attempt to cross a road that is underwater, please exercise caution.”

As at 4pm Sunday December 12 - the current road closure situation as indicated in the attached list from Goulburn Mulwaree Council. Appropriate signage is in place. Please check with the Council, Police or RTA before travelling in these areas to ensure it is safe to do so.

Complete updates on road status can be found in the file to the bottom right (click to enlarge). Council is currently assessing damage to some of our sealed and unsealed roads, and will carry out repair work where necessary. Please bear with them while this takes place, and follow any directions they issue.
