Area Manager, Prabh Singh believes that banks play an important role in local communities and the branches have been keen to be involved in local initiatives.
Branches at Goulburn, Crookwell, Yass, Harden and Young have donated $1900 to the Salvation Army.
The funds will help the Salvation Army in Young, Harden, Goulburn, Crookwell and Yass with the Christmas appeal with its welfare work.
Around Christmas many families find it difficult and for various reasons have to rely on welfare assistance.
This year the floods have brought unexpected hardship to families in the district that might never have thought that they would have to seek flooding relief.
Major Mel Stephens who accepted the $800 cheque from the Goulburn and Crookwell Commonwealth Branches said the money was very timely considering the hardship suffered by several families due to the floods.
She assured the bank staff that the money would be used directly for welfare work in the Goulburn and Crookwell communities.
