This follows impressive performances in the just completed Super League Series in Canberra and carrying out an extensive training program under the assistant Australian coach who is also based in the ACT.
Sophie's successful selection in the Australian team follows on her selection in the Australian under 18's team, which won the world championships and Trans Tasman in New Zealand two years ago.
Early in January the Australian team goes into camp in Brisbane for four days, for an intensive training program.
They will then go into camp again in camp late January for matches against New Zealand, which this year are being played in Canberra for the first time.
All the matches will be played at Viking Park, Tuggeranong from Friday January 21 to Sunday January 23 2011..
Sophie will be playing in her favourite position of link, where she is able to dictate play and set up her supports, by utilising her speed and ball skills.
As she is injury free this year, she should have a great series against the Kiwis.
Following the series, she then goes into camp with the alliance team, which is a selection of the best open players in Australia, excluding players from NSW and Queensland, which will play in the National Touch Leagues Super Fight Competition, to be held in Port Macquarie in late March.
As Sophie has been playing in the ACT this season so she was available for selection in the alliance team, and not for NSW.
