The 2011 National Super TT Series will be run over five rounds on three circuits in NSW and Victoria, with Wakefield Park and Winton Raceway hosting two rounds each and Calder Park one.
The first round will be at Wakefield Park on January 30, followed by Calder Park on April 9/10, Wakefield Park June 26 and the final two rounds at Winton Raceway on October 1/2.
The Super TT racing attracts extremely diverse fields which subsequently produces exciting racing, and at Wakefield Park in 2010 there were two divisions, such is its popularity, and the recipe for its success is to keep it simple and make it affordable so the participants enjoy themselves and then return.
Any car is eligible to compete in Super TT so long as they have a ‘tin top’, the a, b, & c pillars, and firewall are original, and there are no spaceframes allowed.
Super TT Category Manager Adam Ronke said at Winton they we have been enjoying fields of 30-40 cars in Super TT throughout 2010.
“I am really excited to have the National series underway, the category is enjoying great fields in NSW and Victoria and is really the growth category at the moment,” Ronke said.
“We are always looking at what we are doing and tailoring our category to suit the needs of the drivers. Super TT racing is more a community of people, everyone gets along well, and they have fun on and off the race track.”
There was no NSW Super TT Championship run officially, but the Motor Racing Australia (MRA) Combined Tourers Championship was conducted.
The new series will see the NSW Series fall into line with the Victorian’s points structure.
“There will be 100 points maximum available for the winner each round. In the Vic series there is 4 races per round, so 25 points each win. In NSW there is 3 races each round, so 33 points for the win,” Ronke concluded.
The 2010 Vic Super TT Championship was won by Wagga’s Hayden Pullen driving his Ford Falcon AU Supercar, from Corey Gooch in a Holden Torana LJ and third Adam Ronke in his Mitsubishi EVO Lancer.
The NSW winner as Malcolm Roach in his Ford Escort from 69 year old racing legend Warren Weldon in his Mitsubishi Evo Lancer and third was Terry Denovan driving his Holden Commodore.
