Founder of Goulburn Ghost Tours, Louise Edwards has been working closely with several local businesses, Goulburn citizens and the Visitor Information Centre’s Jenny Falconer to develop times, dates and a schedule for the tours.
“We have an investor now too so things are all moving,” she said. Ms Edwards has received permission from the owner of St John’s Orphanage to include the building in the tours.
“I spoke with (the owner) and he said ‘go for it, do what you want with it,’ until he develops the site,” she said.
There is also hopeful that the night tours will discourage vandals and thrill-seeking youth from entering and vandalising the building. Ms Edwards is hoping to run increased amounts of tours to the orphanage due to high demand.
“We’re also running tours of the orphanage by itself,” she said. One tour will be an overnight stay and will include a ghostly supper, an investigation of the building using real ghost equipment and a cooked breakfast.
Ms Edwards is currently in negotiation with the Goulburn Court House about possible tours. She discovered it to be more ‘haunted’ than she first thought.
“Everyone has stories from the Courthouse. It’s almost common knowledge that it’s haunted,” she said of the employees.
The Goulburn Ghost Tours grand opening will be a ‘mystery tour’ on Friday Unfortunately the Post has been asked not to reveal too many details on the locations of the tour, but we can tell readers that St John’s Orphanage will be included.
Other upcoming tours include a paranormal investigation this Saturday, which will be a cemetery stakeout.
“If we get lots of activity we will stay longer,” Ms Edwards said. Contact Ms Edwards on 4822 8808 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Join them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Goulburn.G host.Tours or visit their website www.spiritchasers.com.au.
