Job Summary

The Role

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated environmental professional to help us grow our environment team in Central Queensland.

This senior position will be based in either Mackay or Rockhampton where you will be joining and established multidisciplinary office with a strong local history of supporting our clients and delivering some of the region’s most significant projects.

In this role you will be leading a growing range of projects within the transport, renewable energy, Defence and the resource sectors. Your time will be divided between client liaison, project management and technical delivery predominately focusing on Central Queensland.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who is looking to take the next step in their professional career, or a senior in a similar role who is looking to for a change and seeking to further develop their skillset working in an international consultancy. A snapshot of the opportunity includes:

  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Preparing proposals

  • Managing environmental projects

  • Mentoring junior staff

  • Developing and maintaining technical networks

Minimum Requirements

  • 5-10+ years’ industry experience, preferably working within a consulting environment

  • Excellent working knowledge and experience of environmental legislation and approvals processes

  • Passion and experience in any of the following areas will be highly regarded; impact assessment, ecological surveys including RE and bio-condition assessments, aquatic ecology, rehabilitation & closure, erosion and sediment control, surface and groundwater quality analysis and environmental auditing.

  • Experience in Linear Infrastructure, Mining and Defence projects is considered highly desirable

  • Existing reputation and strong local networks are considered highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management or biological science, or other related field;

  • Four-wheel drive training and other relevant industry inductions (ISI, White Card, Coal Induction)

  • CEnvP is considered advantageous
