A year on from its well received debut, the Goulburn Dirty Reds hosted sevens competition is back. And with a competition under their belts, those less familiar with the game are likely to challenge those well-versed at the modified code of rugby.
Last year’s champions came in the form of a rugby league team coached by Dirty Reds prop Pete Oliver.
The Bulldogs again look hard to beat. Although they walked away with silverware and a share in prizemoney, the competition had a detrimental effect on the Dogs’ early season-form.
Marcus Wikaira, Richie Mason and Mick Dodson all sustained injuries from the competition and missed the Bulldogs opening Canberra Raiders Cup clash.
They’re hoping for better fortune this time around.
The opening round of the sevens competition is scheduled to kick-off on February 1 and will through until February 22. Finals will be contested on the final night of competition. Teams will contest two games per night, each comprising seven minute halves.
An information and registration night will be held on Tuesday, January 29. For more information, contact Kevin Kara on 0428 271 648 or Chris Gordon 0402 434 956.
