At just her fourth race start Iona Seven (pictured) made it two straight at the track in an eight lengths win running 19.56 which set a new time standard for the 350m.
Raced by the Sidrak family in Sydney, Iona Seven is by first season sire Swift Fancy out of Iona Habit and this was the first mating for Swift Fancy.
Trainer Francois Sidrak purchased the mother for $2500 for the purpose to breed and his decision has been justified. After the win last week he refused a huge offer to sell the bitch.
Litter sister Iona Tokyo is also off to a flying start with three wins from four starts and contests race six tomorrow. She has brilliantly won her last two at the track in 19.74 and 19.85 and Sidrak expected her to be the one to run a record. The kennel also have another of the litter in the opening event in Iona Bella who was runner-up at Goulburn on debut two weeks ago.
Boom puppy Cawbourne Logan is out to keep the tag of high potential in the final event having drawn ideally in box one.
On debut a fortnight ago he won by 16 lengths and ran just a tenth off the track record over 457. Then last week from the three box, a slow start and being bustled early was never in the race finishing fourth.
He is a greyhound who needs the first 50m to find his balance and speed and then he is allowed to produce what we saw on debut so box draws at the moment are going to be vital.
