Shortly after 2.30pm (Monday 25 February 2013), a 69-year-old woman was driving a Citroen sedan on the Federal Highway, Sutton – about 1.5km south of the Sutton Road overpass – when the car left the road and travelled through the centre median strip.
The Citroen rolled a number of times before coming to rest.
The woman and her passenger, an 82-year-old man, remained trapped in the vehicle until Fire & Rescue NSW crews were able to free them about 30 minutes later.
They were treated at the scene by paramedics before both were taken by road ambulance to Canberra Hospital.
They’re reported to be in a serious but stable condition.
Crash investigators are still examining the crash site and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, and hasn’t provided a statement, to contact Queanbeyan Police on 02 6298 0555.
In particular, Queanbeyan Police are appealing for a lady who witnessed the crash, and stopped to assist with traffic control, to contact them.
