He has experienced the personal triumph of running three marathons in a day and faced the realisation of not being able to finish the journey.
His passion for the Run for Kids foundation is unquestionable.
Below he outlines some of his thoughts on the journey so far coming into day six.
What has been the toughest day/moment?
The toughest moment was definitely Tuesday when I admitted to the support crew I had no feeling in my leg and knew the completion of the 960km journey wasn't going to become reality.
I was angry in myself while I was sitting in the hospital because I couldn't do what I set out to do and feel like I have let people down.
How is the injury? What treatment will you need once you finish the run?
It's going to need a lot of rest and physiotherapy. I'll need to visit my doctor and assess it, and go from there. After this I was going to have a break for three months and do a lot of swimming before training for the Everest Marathon.
How much running versus walking have you been doing?
At the moment it would be about 60 per cent walking and 40 per cent running.
How is the diet going - is there anything you don't want to eat again?
I can't believe the amount of junk I have eaten such as lollies, chips, Coke and takeaway.
I suppose it's a good advertisement if you want to eat junk food and stay fit; this is what you need to do. I'm never going to have another sports drink in my life, it has got to the point where it doesn't agree with me.
How much money has been raised?
$22,000 as of yesterday.
What has been the response from the towns and communities you are passing through?
It has been a bit hard to gauge as we have been on the road so much but from what we have been told by the girls it has been very warm, especially in Gundagai and Holbrook.
What celebrations are in store at Bondi?
The Kids Cancer Project has organised for us to celebrate at the Bucket List, in Bondi. Then we have a nice meal booked for everyone at a local restaurant.
