The club has been given the right to host all the semi finals for the two grades tomorrow.
The first event for the day is the major semi final for Second Grade, between Goulburn Dirty Reds and Yass, who have performed consistently well throughout the season.
Yass won 11 of the 15 games they played.
Next on the ladder is Hall, who will go straight to the final against the winner of the major semi final tomorrow. Hall have won nine and lost six.
RMC, who were to play Hall in the minor semi final, have forfeited because of a lack of players qualified to take the field.
While Goulburn goes into the major semi final as the undefeated favourites, Yass should not be underestimated and will be well prepared for their big chance to defeat the home side. This game starts on Poidevin Oval at 11.40am, tomorrow.
The next game, the First Grade minor semi final between Cooma and RMC should be a hard fought contest, and well worth watching for anyone looking for something to do this weekend.
The game is sure to attract quite a few supporters from both Canberra and Cooma to Goulburn and many are likely to stay to watch the game following too. This game is scheduled to kick off at 1.15pm.
The final match of Goulburn Rugby Club’s Sponsors Day will be the major semi final between the Goulburn Dirty Reds First Grade and Hall. Hall has won 10 of the 15 games during the season and have drawn one. They scored 430 points during the season and had 248 points scored against them. Goulburn has won all its 15 games the first grade side has also scored 669 points and had 99 scored against them.
Captain coach for the Dirty Reds Boyd Newby said Hall should not be underestimated and will obviously be fielding a strong team on Saturday. Hall had a 12 all draw with Cooma last Saturday. The week before, they left RMC standing on their try line wondering how to mount a defence as they carved through to win 52 to nil. The week before that, Hall had a two point win over ADFA.
“Hall is a tough physical team and we expect they will be fully fit and determined to control the game on Saturday,” Newby said.
“We are at full strength and the boys have been training hard.
“We will need to be on our game to make sure that mistakes don’t cost us.
“Our tight defence and ability to get the ball up the field will count.
“Hall looks to be a much improved team in recent weeks and we cannot expect to see a scoreboard like when we played them on July 11.”
In that game Goulburn scored 49 points and left Hall scoreless. Goulburn’s real strength is in their defence and ability to stop their opposition before it can cross the line. A team that can find a way through that type of defence while holding the Reds out at the other end can win the game.
Dominic Falk has proved an important asset to the team, taking over the kicking role from Mikael Webber. Goulburn will be hoping that Falk is on his game on Saturday and able to read the gusty winds that blow across Poidevin Oval particularly strongly above the cross-bar.

The Dirty Reds versus Hall First Grade semi final is expected to start at 3pm.
