Eight swimmers from the Goulburn Amateur Swimming Club had some good results at the NSW Country Regional meets at Wagga Wagga and Bathurst last weekend.

The Wagga Wagga meet was held at the Oasis Aquatic Centre and there was even a surprise visit from former swimming great Geoff ‘Skippy’ Huegill, who jumped in for a ‘dip’.
Jake Cooper (eight events) Thorfinn Gilbert (three events), Duke Shepherd (six events) and Lachlan Gilbert (seven events) all received good times in the breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle and individual medley events.
“Thirteen year old Lachlan Gilbert competed in seven events at Wagga Wagga and managed to get medals from six of those seven events with three golds, two silvers and one bronze and four personal best times,” Goulburn Amateur Swimming Club president Scott Cooper said.
“Fifteen year old Jake Cooper also did well, competing in eight events and winning two silvers and one bronze.”
Nine year old Duke Shepherd travelled to Bathurst for his events and managed to get three bronze medals and three personal best times.
The girls also did well with Jaime Craig (eight events), Marlee Harris (seven events), Ava Gilbert (four events), Margaret Williams (three events), and Megan Schweers (eight events) achieving fantastic times as well.
Eleven year old Margaret Williams competed in three events and managed to get one bronze medal and swam two personal best times.
Jaime Craig (12) also swam in eight events and managed two personal best times.
Marlee Harris (13) competed in seven events and achieved one silver and one bronze medal as well as four personal bests.
Megan Schweers (13) competed in eight events and managed to win one bronze medal.
The Goulburn Amateur Swimming Club’s Summer Swimming Club officially returns on January 22 for their first club night.
More information will be published soon regarding which NSW State and NSW Country representatives will be competing later this month and into February.
