In their first major outing, the band will be performing a showcase of their favourite material including some classics, ‘re-made’ versions of popular music, and a number of original songs.
"No strangers to the stage, ‘The Remakes’ sees five of Goulburn’s well-known performers and musicians join forces for the first time. The group feature Bonnie Brooks (vocals), Steve Routley (lead guitar, keys), Blake Selmes (saxophone, guitar, keys), Leonard Buckley (bass) & Harrison Treble (drums).”
The group are also experienced actors, all having performed in numerous productions by the Lieder Theatre, Argyle Society, on television and overseas.
“There is something extraordinary that happens when we take on a well-known song” Blake Selmes said.
“Between us there lies an array of diverse musical influences and backgrounds, and by the time a song gets filtered through Steve’s rock lens, Lenny’s classical roots, the weight of Bonnie’s hip-hop & soul influence, Harry’s R&B vibe and my folky leanings, it comes out the other side sounding intriguingly refreshing and a bit unusual, but somehow it really works.”
Having developed their sound over the last six months, the group are thrilled to launch their exciting collaboration at Pictures & Popcorn, and wish to thank the Goulburn Mulwarree Council for giving them the opportunity.
The Remakes will be performing from 5pm in Belmore Park this Saturday. It is a free event.
