One southbound lane, and all northbound lanes of the Hume Highway are now open at the site of a fatal car crash in Yarra, south of Goulburn, but traffic is still very heavy.
One southbound lane remains closed so motorists are still experiencing significant delays.
Southbound traffic on the Hume Highway is queued for around 10 km.
Northbound traffic is heavy on the both the Hume Highway and the Federal Highway, but should start to ease now that all northbound lanes are open. Emergency services and traffic crews remain at the crash site.

Update 12.25pm
Police have commenced an investigation after a fatal crash near Goulburn this morning.
About 10.20am today (Tuesday April 18) emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, near Coles Lane, at Yarra after reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Police have been told a Mitsubishi Pajero was travelling along the Hume Highway towards Jindabyne when the driver tried to avoid hitting an object on the road way. The Mitsubishi struck the object causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof.
Five occupants were in the vehicle. The female driver of the Mitsubishi Pajero, died at the scene.
One of the female passengers, sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital.
The remaining three occupants were taken to Goulburn Base Hospital as a precautionary measure with minor injuries.
Officers from The Hume Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
Detectives and Crime Scene Officers attended and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
Contra flow in place
Both southbound lanes on the Hume Highway are currently closed, but motorists travelling in both directions on the Hume Highway are now able to pass the scene of the accident.
A contra-flow is in place in the northbound lanes of the Hume Highway between Coles Lane and Parkesbourne Road.
This means motorists can travel in both directions using the lanes of the northbound carriageway.
Traffic remains heavy and there are significant delays with traffic queued up to 6km from the crash site.
Motorists travelling in both directions are advised to continue to delay all non essential travel.

Update 12.10pm
Police have confirmed a person has died in the accident. They did not say whether the person was male or female.
Update 11.45am
The road is open and police are directing all traffic onto the northbound lane of the Hume Highway.

The Hume Highway is closed in both directions in Yarra due to a car crash near the intersection of the Federal Highway.
A person is trapped in one of the vehicles and a rescue helicopter has also been dispatched to the scene and has landed on the site.
Motorists are advised to delay their journey as there is no diversion available. Traffic is heavy in both directions with motorists travelling southbound queued about 3.5kms.
Police Rescue and Emergency Services and traffic crews are on the scene.
Reports advise that two people have been airlifted for treatment – one in a critical condition and the other in a serious condition.
