This weekend's sports action

Tonight at Yass, Goulburn Stockmen’s open women’s rugby league team takes on the Yass Magpies in the third round of their competition. Both these teams are undefeated and the game which starts at 7pm should draw a considerable crowd. Goulburn’s under 16 boys Stockmen have the night off.

There will be a full morning of junior representative rugby league at North Park, Goulburn on Sunday with the under 17 girls playing Tuggeranong Buffaloes in the 11.40am time slot and the under 15 Stockmen boys playing Gungahlin Bulls at 12.40pm.

Also on Sunday, to round off quite an action packed weekend of sporting fixtures Goulburn Workers Bulldogs are at the Workers Arena. The under 18s play Belconnen United Sharks at 10am. This is followed by the Women’s League Tag at 11.20am also against the Belconnen United Sharks.

The reserve grade fixture is scheduled for 12.20pm and the first grade game starts at 2pm. The firsts have only won two of their first six games. The injection of Tyler Cornish into the side has lifted the players determination and looks to strengthen the side.

Goulburn Swan’s AFL side had a huge away win last weekend against the Googong Hogs 190 to 50.

This Saturday, they are away again, travelling to Snowy Oval to play the Southern Cats. The game starts at 2pm.

Goulburn’s Dirty Reds Rugby Union Club has this weekend off to recuperate from two tough matches against Wests because of the unavailability of ADFA. This game has been deferred and they will play for double points later in the season.

“Next Saturday May 27 we are back home for our reunion weekend. We will be playing Young with games starting at 12.45pm for seconds and 2pm for firsts.”

Harry is the son of Dirty Reds first grade captain Boyd Newby. The under 16s game is scheduled for 2.30pm with an under 15s game before it at 1.15pm.
