Now GE Renewable Energy has announced an agreement with Global Power Generation Australia (GPG) to install 28 wind turbines at his property Gundowringa, near Pejar Dam, and two neighbouring properties. 

Mr Prell said the wind farm is a “game changer” for him and other landowners.

“It gives you the financial flexibility to change your stocking rate, to spell pastures, to manage water courses much more sustainably and environmentally because you’ve got the passive income stream,” Mr Prell said. 

“You’re not reliant on the income from the stock, which is totally related to weather and pasture conditions.” 

He is happy there will be financial benefits for the neighbouring properties beyond the host farms as well as the local community.

He said the Community Enhancement Fund will received $2500 per turbine ($70,000) annually for the next 25 years.This money will go towards landcare work and building new facilities the community wants.
