Goulburn open women had a 54 to 6 win over the Queanbeyan Roos.
In the curtain-raiser, the 16 years boys Stockmen versus Queanbeyan Roos, the game was called early when the home side reached 50 ahead.
Women’s coach John Thomas said his team could have completely dominated play but he made several changes to give his less experienced players more of a run.
“We are lucky we have lots of girls wanting to play and it is good to give them experience in different positions too,” Thomas said.
The scoreline didn’t show the determination with which Queanbeyan played or the spirit of the game. The Roos played some good football, passing the ball and making ground, but were unlucky not to score several times.
“It’s good watch the game and seeing what we need to work on at training,” Goulburn co-captain Pearl Rakete said.
“There is really quite a bit if we are to beat the Queanbeyan Blues, who are leading the competition. We play them in Goulburn this Friday evening.
“We enjoyed playing the Roos. They are an enthusiastic bunch of girls with a great attitude. They’re pretty new to it and will improve.”
