“We gave it a fair shot,” coach Ben Pearson said. “We won the second grade game 29 to 24. It was quite a tough game but then we had to back up for the first grade game. It was a big ask and a couple of players sustained injuries, which didn’t help.
“We were leading the game at half time, but we lost it int about the last quarter. The players simply ran out of puff. We went down 27 to 10 [but] I am really proud of everyone who made the trip on Saturday. It was a really gutsy team effort.”
Between the second and first grades, Cooma Old Boys played the Cauliflower Club, which featured Nick Farr-Jones, Peter FitzSimons, James McCormack, Geoff Didier and Ben Pearson. Pearson played in all three games.
The Dirty Reds are still looking for players. They train Tuesdays and Thursdays at Eastgrove. Saturday, they play ADFA at Poidevin Oval.
