Upon greater reflection he noticed something important was missing - toys, or in Hamish's case, fun superhero toys for him to play with.

Taking matters into his own hands he decided to write a letter to council, outlining the need for younger visitors, like himself, to be better accommodated.

“I too am a ratepayer within Goulburn Mulwaree, and it’s very important to me that we take community concerns on board,” Goulburn Mulwaree Business Manager Customer Liaison Craig Johnson said after reading the letter. 

“Once we received the letter I sat down with my customer service team and we decided it was important we address Hamish’s concerns,” Mr  Johnson said.

On August 4, Hamish and his mother were invited to the unveiling of the small toy box, which also included superhero toys.

Mayor Bob Kirk and members of the customer service team also attended. 

“This is a great example of a community member taking the time to air their concerns in a productive way – and as seen, it clearly led to outstanding results,” Cr Kirk said.

“My door is always open and I’d encourage residents who want to discuss an issue to send a letter or call and make an appointment so we can work through it.” 

The toy box is now available for children visiting the council to play with.
