The well attended breakfast at the Best Western Motel was filled with community representatives, leaders, business owners and creatives, who, despite holding varied positions, fell under the banner of carrying a strong appreciation for the town.
Musician Colin Buchanan performed numerous songs throughout the morning, including a song about Goulburn he has only drafted the night before which was well received by the crowd.
The investment in this city, its people and its future should be commended,” Bishop Robinson said.
“Many of you have taken huge risks to break into or indeed create markets. Today I want to acknowledge and honor that community investment. Most of it goes unnoticed, but the impact if profound.”
He continued to speak about the unsung heroes, such as the small business which employed and supported refugees, another which redistributed food to those who needed it, those who opened their homes to troubled teens at home and teenagers in threat abroad.
“There is, I believe, a growing selflessness and generosity in this city and you are leading the way,” he said.
“May nothing distract us from so worthy and fulfilling enterprise.”
The first Bishop’s Breakfast was held last year in an effort to unite and celebrate the city’s accomplishments.
