Greyhound Australia will “not engage” with the prospect of resuming the bus service between Goulburn and Canberra following their announcement to seize the service last week.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council mayor Bob Kirk said the council had reached out to the company about reconsidering but received a response explaining the decision was already made.
“A lot of people have said they weren’t aware of existence so maybe that plays into advertising and marketing,” Cr Kirk said.
“Time is against us. We’ll do all we can possible can, facilitate new service provider if it can be achieved.”
He said a partnership with another bus service was “in the works” despite adding this was not a primary role of the council.
“Regular users need another form of transport to meet their needs, and we’re conscious of that,” he said.
Greyhound Australia declined to comment.
