Spring is here and there is no better way to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Southern Tablelands than on a bike. Cycling gives participants a unique vantage point is to see vistas often missed by passing motorists while also exploring quaint back-roads, which are often taken for granted solely as a means of getting from point A to B.
An appreciation of the area’s splendid rural scenery with rolling hills, old shearing sheds, majestic stands of eucalypts, and historic farm homesteads are often best gleamed from a bike while also having a chat over to the rider alongside on topics ranging from politics to the general ‘what are you doing with your weekend’.
With all this on offer the Goulburn Cycling Club supports regular recreational bunch rides most weekends, and during the week over the warmer months, which also gives participants the opportunity to improve their cycling fitness, to learn from more experienced riders and to enhance their skills of riding in a group.
The ride normally starts from the Greengrocer Café, where the social aspect of riding can be further enjoyed over a coffee before or after the cycle. The rides are mostly 1-2 hours in duration usually commencing around 7.30am to 8.00am.
The Club is always keen to encourage new and prospective members to its recreational rides. Details of upcoming rides are usually posted to the Facebook site: Greengrocer Log Your Ride.
The Club recently concluded its winter race program and is now looking forward to the summer racing season which is held on Wednesday evenings, from November 1.
